Supporting Service Children in Schools and Colleges

Delivered in partnership with the Service Children's Progression Alliance (SCiP), this session explores the educational experiences of service children and military families. You will gain practical strategies for supporting learners affected by mobility, deployment and changing family circumstances, while exploring how the Thriving Lives Toolkit can be used within your setting.

This online interactive session will help you to:
• Understand the experiences of service children and military families
• Explore how the Thriving Lives Toolkit can support whole-setting approaches
• Share effective practice and discuss strategies with colleagues
During the session, you will be signposted to your local SCiP hub and to further organisations and resources to support your work with Service children.
This CPD session will be suitable for all staff working in secondary schools, including those in SLT roles, pastoral roles, teaching and non-teaching staff. It will also be suitable for staff who work across the education sector, for example, those in higher education, Local Authority or charity roles.
The SCiP Alliance South Hub also provides information, support and training for those who work with Service children. The Southern Universities Network is one of the co-leads for the South Hub. You can find out more about the South Hub via the link below.
