OVERVIEW
During the dates of Wednesday 29 August and Friday 31 August 2018, the Southern Universities Network (SUN) will be running a summer residential at Southampton Solent University for those who have finished their first year of college/sixth form (i.e. year 12). The main theme of the residential will be preparing for year 13 and beyond.
Students will be given a taster for what it is like to study at university, including having the opportunity to stay overnight in the student halls of residence. Current students from SUN partner universities will be on hand to help with the running of the event and provide an opportunity for you to find out more about what it is like to study at university.
NO COST
All aspects of the SUN Year 12 Residential, including accommodation, catering and transport, are offered entirely free of charge and paid for by the Southern Universities Network.
SAMPLE PROGRAMME
The schedule for the residential will include the following:
- Workshops: student life, UCAS personal statement writing, personal development (e.g. cooking), employability and interview skills
- Talks: student life, apprenticeships and making the most of year 13
- Visits to other SUN partner universities
- Participation in cultural activities
TRAVEL INFORMATION
Travel will be fully funded and paid for by the SUN. Successful applicants will be sent further information nearer the time of the event.

Due to the limited number of spaces available on this residential, there are some criteria in place to determine eligibility.
We ask all successful applicants to complete a confidential medical form in order to ensure safety during the residential. Learners will not be permitted to attend the residential without having completed and returned this document with parent/carer consent.
